With more than 20 years at senior executive level in broadcasting — Deputy Director of Television and Director of Digital at RTÉ, then Head of UTV Ireland, and later Chairperson of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland — Mary brings a first-hand understanding of large-scale organisational change to her coaching. She oversaw RTÉ’s transition from analogue to digital television, the national switchover that ended five decades of analogue broadcasting in Ireland.

Mary’s coaching approach is supportive, client-centred and focused on empowering personal and professional growth. In particular, she believes coaching plays an invaluable role when leaders are stuck, and the path ahead is unclear. Working to support them through change, Mary emphasises the power of story: understanding, telling, and directing one’s own narrative while inspiring others as a leader. Working with teams, Mary creates a reflective space that encourages better thinking, cuts through the noise, and helps teams see what matters most and what needs to change.

A Senior Accredited Executive and Team Coach, Mary holds an MSc in Coaching and Leadership and is completing a Doctorate at Oxford Brookes University, where her research explores how teams tell and work with their stories. She is also Programme Director for the Diploma in Team Coaching at UCD Smurfit Executive Development.

“Mary’s approach to our team coaching was thoughtful, thorough and quietly courageous. She invested significant time in understanding each of us individually, and that preparation showed in the skilful way she created the conditions for us to have the conversations we’d been avoiding. We left with a clearer sense of who we are as a team and what we need from each other.”
